Melinda (Mindy) Barrett
Executive Director
Mindy has spent much of her life in the Potter, Tioga, Lycoming area, having graduated from Northern Potter High School and Mansfield University. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and 8 years in social work as an Independent Living Caseworker for Tioga County. Mindy has a long history of working with youth in Tioga county, starting as a substitute teacher in Wellsboro, while also working as Therapeutic Support Staff (TSS) for Concern Professional Services. From there she worked at the Tioga County Residential and Detention Center, a valuable lesson in working with youth and learning about their struggles through the lens of juvenile justice. When the detention center was closed, she accepted a job with the Independent Living Program at C&Y, where she worked with foster and former foster youth ages 14 - 23, helping them learn transitioning skills from foster care to adulthood. She feels very strongly that our youth who have been in substitute care need advocacy and support to meet their needs, especially when they are faced with going out into the world on their own.
